“Imprint your spine”
What you think it means
Squash your lower back flat into the mat as hard as you can.
What it actually means
A gentle tilt of the pelvis so the lower back softly meets the mat — used to protect the back when legs are lifted.
Feel check: Slide a hand under your waist. Imprint is when it lightly touches your hand, without clenching your bottom.
“Find neutral pelvis”
What you think it means
Stand or lie perfectly straight.
What it actually means
Hip bones and pubic bone level, keeping the spine’s natural small curve under the waist.
Feel check: Make a triangle with your hands on hip bones and pubic bone. In neutral, it lies flat like a table.
